The Timber 2.0 is Here!

The new and improved Timber Bass is now available!  The redesign process was a good challenge.  We knew we had to mill the neck and body in-house on our own CNC machine, so we took the opportunity to make some adjustments to meet some of the requests we received from customers (thank you for your input!).  At a glance, this new version is not dramatically different from the old one, but there are some interesting changes under the hood, so we will highlight the key changes for you here:

Scale length: we opted to expand the scale length by one inch, making it nominally 22.5".  This allows the strings to sit at a slightly higher tension, putting more pressure on the saddle which the piezo element appreciates.  Of course this also gives a little more space between the frets, and we have added a 19th fret.

Adjustable action and intonation: We have discretely incorporated an internal slotted connection and set screw that together allow for just the right amount of movement to really dial in the action and intonation for your unique playing style.

Custom thumb rest placement: We recognized that it would be difficult to create a "one-size-fits-all" thumb pocket, since there are so many different styles and nuances to the way a player's hand interacts with the instrument.  Furthermore, the previous thumb pockets were difficult to sand and finish.  So we took a cue from the traditional bass guitar, which typically has a magnetic pickup sitting proud of the body that many players use as a thumb rest.  We are including a wooden block with an adhesive on the back that can be placed wherever you like, to your thumb's desire.  Yes, we know some people will miss the old pockets.  You will just have to find another place to keep your cashews.

Strap button: We have given Timber Two a strap button at the heel of the neck, allowing for easier strap removal.  No more fussy kevlar loop.

We have kept the electronic components the same.  The Shadow active undersaddle p/u and preamp with onboard tuner has been a solid performer and produces a sound that we all really like.  We still have custom Galli string sets available either round-wound or flat-wound.

We hope you enjoy the Timber Two too!
