Drill ½” dia hole (Brad point wood bit works best in maple frame) in drum shell about 3” or 45 deg. (4” on Tenor and 5 String maple frame) from tailpiece hole and 7/8” in from back edge. Back up with wood block to prevent tear out on inside. Skip to step 5 if p/u is prewired.
2. Cut and strip O.S. 2.75” banjo p/u to 8”overall length. Combine and tin red and white for positive lead; braided shields for ground wire.
3. Solder ground shield to connector ground lug (biggest tab) and positive wire to smallest tab on Neutrik NYS221 ¼” jack.
4. Crimp tabs over jacket to support wire and position connections so heat shrink will fit neatly and wires are separated. Test for output and noise level (no hum when connector hot air gun.
