Here at Magic Fluke we build most instruments to order, meaning there are endless opportunities to customize your instrument along the way. Here we'll showcase some examples of custom work we've done in the past, and the tools that we have to make it happen. For more examples of custom ukuleles, visit our Gallery page here. If you would like to build your own custom fluke or flea, visit our Custom Fluke page here or Custom Flea page here.
Dye sublimation soundboard printing
Many of our designer soundboards are transferred directly into the finish through a process called dye-sublimation. Graphics are printed on special paper & ink, then absorbed into the polyurethane finish under heat and pressure. We can now produce one-offs in-house, so you can have your own image printed on the soundboard of your Fluke or Flea ukulele. Keep in mind when choosing artwork for printing, the image is printed on a natural finished board, so all colors take on a slightly warmer sepia type appearance. Since white is not printed, light colors will take on the natural color of the wood including any subtle grain details. Feel free to call if you have any questions.
We post
Laser Engraving/Cutting
We use our Epilog 50 watt laser machine for everything from zapping out wooden uke soundboards and acrylic violin nuts, to engraving the little bug on the back of the Firefly strut and Timber's paw print on the electric bass that bears his name. The custom possibilities are endless with this tool. Often we'll engrave text and fill with dye personal notes on the back of a neck, or a company emblem on the soundboard, or even custom sound holes and inlay.
Hand-Painted Soundboards
We have worked with many artistic customers who like to apply their own creativity directly to the soundboard. At your request, we'll send a blank soundboard for you to design as you wish, then send it back here and we'll build your one-of-a-kind instrument.

Ed Haponik
Hi there! I've been a fan of the Fluke/Flea since about 2007 and have owned a Tiki King Surf model concert Fluke. I'm primarily a bassist and also love ukulele (4-strings for life lol). I'm considering pulling the trigger on one of the Fluke SB's to use on stage without feedback issues, and a wild thought occurred to me when looking at your custom options. My main electric bass is a Fodera Yin-Yang, and I wondered whether it would be possible to get a yin yang design painted/printed on a Fluke SB? My bass looks like this: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cu1r--pObUm/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CrjwKPkJQAq/ Obv I'm not looking for a direct replica or any kind of inlay - just something like the design. Just kind of a fact-finding mission, but definitely super interested in this (and in the Fluke SB in general). Thanks a ton for all the years of rad ukulele inspiration. Best wishes, Ed Haponik

Hi Ed, We could definitely recreate a yin-yang pattern on the Fluke SB. A few options come to mind: it could be a complete circle pattern laser engraved in the area between the bridge and the soundboard; or something similar to your bass splitting the body in some orientation that makes sense, the black portion either black lacquer or a stain. There would be a custom charge depending on the design. If you are interested, its probably best to give me a call and we can discuss the options. Dale
