Just like Magic Fluke's renowned Fluke, Flea and Firefly ukuleles, the Cricket shares the same distinctive design and quality features. The Cricket is a full-scale violin, also available in 14" Viola scale tuned CDGA. Versatile enough to satisfy seasoned violin and fiddle players looking for an affordable, durable travel instrument as well as beginner students seeking a fully set-up, ready-to-play first instrument. Furthermore, the Cricket is made in the USA.

With its unique open headstock and use of simple Grover friction pegs or optional geared Pegheds, the Cricket Violin is remarkably easy to tune or restring. Like our other instruments, the body is molded of a high quality, glass reinforced, durable thermoplastic for stiffness and resonance. The arched top is CNC machined solid spruce with a choice of solid walnut, mahogany or maple neck. The included chin and shoulder rest is adjustable three ways to accommodate all players. The end result is a surprisingly full range, warm sounding violin that's comfortable to hold and easy to play.

Available with Open Source Sensors pick up. This high quality U.S.A. made soundboard transducer is known for its warm, accurate acoustic sound reproduction, and these custom made pickups give the Cricket a surprisingly big rich sound. Because of the unique mounting between the sound post and the top, no preamp is required which means no battery to worry about, and super light weight. Strung with D'Addario Helicore strings.

Love this Cricket!

I am a huge fan of this Cricket and enjoy playing it. Not only do I love the instrument but after my order, Phyllis e-mailed me directly and worked with me on my timeline. This is a great instrument and it sounds a lot better than I was expecting. It will be traveling with me on a number of future adventures and I really look forward to years of use. I ordered the Peghead internally geared tuners with it, at the recommendation of others, and I am so glad that I did.

An Innovative, and top quality instrument!

After watching Alex Sovronsky's video here and pouring over the specs of the Cricket, as well as being very happy with the 3 Magic Fluke Company instruments that I own and play a lot, I just had to have my very own Cricket. Bigger sound than I expected!

I've just received my Cricket and can't stop playing. I'm in the middle of an extended period of travelling and was missing the fiddle I left at home, so ordered the Cricket as a travel-friendly option to take to sessions and learn new tunes on. Unamplified, it's got more power than I expected based on the other reviews - can't wait to try it plugged in too. The shoulder/chin rest set up is pretty nifty and nice and adjustable to suit your preferred playing position. I'm looking forward to using it for pub and campfire sessions. I had it shipped all the way to the UK and it arrived safe and sound with good instructions for making sure everything was aligned. The geared tuners really are a nice addition too.

My violin playing lost its fun ...

Hi Everyone at Magic Fluke, Yesterday I received my Cricket Violin. I was so excited, opening the box and looking at it made me smile. The quality and design was perfect right down to the ergonomic chin and shoulder rest. I had no idea of the sound quality before purchasing it, only watching YT videos, but when I started playing it the smile and excitement in me just kept on expanding! Not thinking anything could top that until I arrived home and plugged it into my sound system ... it was just over the top! I had so much fun playing it I did not realize that 7 hours went by so fast until the clock rang midnight, and I still wanted to keep playing it! For the last few years my violin playing lost its fun, thank you all for bring it back to me with this wonder Cricket Violin.
